Polo elite to compete for World Polo Tour points in St. Moritz
St. Moritz Polo World Cup on Snow: high-goal teams have been named
St. Moritz, 13 December 2011 – Once again some of the world’s best polo players are set to compete for points and prestige in St. Moritz. The four teams BMW, Cartier, Ralph Lauren and Sal. Oppenheim will be entering with team handicaps of 15 to 18 goals and are sure to delight the eager audience with polo at its highest level.
The patrons of this year’s teams are Andreas Knapp Voith (ESP) for BMW, Richard Davis (GBR) for Cartier, Michael Bickford (USA) for Ralph Lauren and Jonathan Munro Ford (AUS) for Sal. Oppenheim. With team handicaps of 15 to 18 goals, the 2012 St. Moritz Polo World Cup on Snow will once again be staged as a high-goal polo tournament, and thus remains the world’s highest-level polo tournament on snow.
The only polo tournament on snow that awards points for the World Polo Tour (WPT)
The St. Moritz Polo World Cup on Snow is the world’s only WPT cup on snow at which the players not only compete for prestige but also for points. Thus, the players strive for victory in the tournament with great zeal. Urs E. Schwarzenbach states: “Our tournament is held outside the actual polo season, and playing on snow is a challenge for every player. However, as our tournament is the only winter tournament at which the players also compete for points towards their ranking, we are able to attract world-class athletes every year, who delight spectators with attractive polo at the highest level.
St. Moritz Polo AG is committed to the Children Beyond charity project
On the occasion of the 28th St. Moritz Polo World Cup on Snow 2012, St. Moritz Polo AG takes part in the Children Beyond charity project – a fundraising music project by Tina Turner, Regula Curti and Dechen Shak-Dagsay for the benefit of spiritual education projects for children and adolescents. A percentage of all the gala tickets’ proceeds are donated to the project. In addition, Ralph Lauren, team sponsor and official outfitter of this year’s tournament, will donate 20 per cent of the proceeds from all the articles sold during a drinks reception at its St. Moritz store. The donation will support a specific project with local relevance under the patronage of St. Moritz Polo AG.

About Children Beyond
Music, which unites people and religions, is at the heart of Children Beyond. Together with 30 children, the three singers Tina Turner, Regula Curti and Dechen Shak-Dagsay have recorded musical prayers and mantras of the five world religions and of Sikhism. The songs were arranged with a bridging combination of East-West melodies. The album entitled “CHILDREN BEYOND” has been available from shops since October 2011. The music project aims at promoting peace and tolerance.
